About me

My mission is to help more startups have positive impact at scale.

As an independent consultant, I do coaching, strategy, and research for foundations and mission-driven founders.

Prior to starting my independent practice, I cofounded Hello World, a nonprofit initiative that unlocked $100 million in scholarships for young people doing good around the world. We were backed by Schmidt Futures, and Sal Khan was our board chair. Before that, I was a product leader at Khan Academy, driving our strategic initiatives in classroom adoption as well as exploring new possibilities within our R&D lab. Our work played an important role in helping students achieve higher-than-expected math gains, even in the height of the covid pandemic.

Tech nonprofits haven't always been my thing – I got my start at Ning, a platform founded by Gina Bianchini and Marc Andreessen that helped people connect around their passions and interests. From there I served as head of product at Canvas. DrawQuest, our iPad app, became the #1 Entertainment App in the App Store. I also cofounded Slash Keyboard, which won Product Hunt's product of the year and sold to Giphy in 2017.

I am a perennial friend to founders, and I've advised and mentored startups within the Union Square Ventures, Betaworks, and Techstars ecosystems. My coaching practice makes use of the methodologies that have served me well in my own development – those include the Enneagram, Internal Family Systems, and a nondual meditation practice.

I live in Brooklyn, NY with my wife and daughter – my latest hobby is dreaming up big ideas for our small backyard.
